Penalties and mistakes hurt the Blackhawks against Galena

Adrian learned a valuable lesson last Friday at the Adrian sports complex. That lesson was to come prepared to play football and not make mistakes in order to win against a good team. Adrian lost to the very talented Galena Bulldogs 27-7 in a game where mistakes and missed opportunities cost the team dearly.
Galena came out fired up and prepared to score. Adrian won the toss and elected to receive. Galena was able to stop the Blackhawks and gain possession of the ball. They marched down the field as Adrian did not have an answer to what the Bulldogs were doing. Adrian’s defense stopped the Bulldogs offense the rest of the first half, with a score of 12-7 at halftime.
The second half opened much like the first half as Galena game planned another successful opening drive score on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Martin to Colton Leet. Adrian never could get an offensive series together without costly mistakes and devastating penalties killing their drives. The final score ended in a Blackhawk loss, 27-7.
Frustrated Coach George Bruto did not have much to offer about this week’s game. “We got our butts kicked! It’s as simple as that,” he said. “Let’s leave it at that.”
Adrian travels to Sherwood next Friday night to take on the Sherwood Marksmen. Sherwood stands at 2-0 after lopsided wins against Appleton City and Rich Hill. Adrian must reduce penalties and mistakes in order to get the taste of this week’s game out of their mouths.
