Named to first team all-state

Adrian High School basketball player Austin Erickson, junior, was selected for the Associated Press First Team All-State. He was one of only 10 players in the state chosen from schools the size of Adrian. During the season Austin scored 16 points and made 9 rebounds per game. He shot 58% from the field.
“We’re very proud of Austin and all of the boys and girls teams,” said Chris Erickson, Austin’s dad. “When this group of boys played little league together we knew they were something to watch for. Kenny Tenholder, Brian Tenholder, Lee Kariker, Mike Case and many others had a big influence on Austin and the boys when they were young.”
The final state rankings were released as the all-state team was announced. The Adrian boys basketball team finished 7th in the state for Class 2 schools with a 26-4 season. “It’s nice to see us get statewide recognition,” Head Coach James Wheeler said. “The players earned it and it was well-deserved.”
