Little League sends two to Super Bowl
By ERIC MOLES
Saturday, November 7 was the semi-finals for little league football. Adrian’s flag teams played each other, the black third and fourth grade team played Drexel and the white fifth and sixth graders played Rich Hill. Jeff Ford's black flag team edged the white team 19-7, Jeremiah Reynolds’ kids smashed Drexel 30-8 and Jerry Pitts team got beat 37-12 but it was a close game heading into the fourth quarter.
Jeff Ford’s black team started off great, scoring on the first play on a 52 yard run by Carly Reynolds. Right before halftime, Owen Tallman broke free and scored a 65 yard touchdown. Both defenses toughened up for the rest of the game and the final score was 19-7.
When the third and fourth graders took the field, they were looking for revenge. Earlier this season, Drexel spanked the Blackhawks 46-6. Adrian came out ready to play right off the bat, punching in a one yard touchdown by Wyatt Reynolds. The Adrian defense took their game to another level in the second half by not allowing any points and getting a few turnovers. Cameron Tallman scored a 4 yard touchdown to seal up the victory.
Next week the Super Bowl will be played at Midway. The flag teams are Jeff Ford’s (black) vs. Rich Hill, Jeremiah Reynold’s (black) will face Archie for the third and fourth grade division. Sherwood and Rich Hill will battle for the fifth and sixth grade title.
