Lady Blackhawks volleyball takes 4th in Archie tournament


The Adrian Lady Blackhawks participated in the 2011 Archie Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, September 10. Due to the construction of Archie’s new gymnasium, only one gym was available so Pool A, consisting of Archie, Drexel, Miami and K.C. Lutheran, was played at Archie and Pool B, consisting of Adrian, Ballard, Butler, and Hume was played at Adrian.
In the 8:00 game Adrian was defeated by the Butler Lady Bears 25-22 and 25-16. The Lady Blackhawks rebounded in the second game and defeated Ballard 25-11 and 25-18. In the final game of pool play Adrian played Hume and won 25-23 and 25-12. After pool play ended the Lady Blackhawks were in 2nd and would be up against the Archie Lady Whirlwinds in the first round of bracket play. Archie defeated Adrian 25-15 in the first game. The second game was much closer but Adrian fell 25-23. The loss ended the day for Adrian and put them in a fourth place finish in the tournament. Coach Robards commented on the tournament, “We placed 4th in the tournament this year. I am very proud of the team for how well they played.
