Lady Blackhawks Softball

The Adrian Lady Blackhawks hosted the Sherwood Lady Marksmen on Thursday, April 16. After being behind 4 to 0, Adrian came back and won the contest 10 to 3. Coach Terry Hubbard said, “The girls did a great job of coming back after being down 0-4. Our offense stepped up, pounding out 12 hits. Sherwood has a good team, so this was a confidence boost for us. We are a young team and make mistakes, but the girls are learning and getting better. I was proud of the way they maintained their composure and fought back to win.”
On Friday, April 17, the Lady Blackhawks hosted the Lakeland Lady Vikings and claimed the victory 8 to 7. Coach Hubbard said, “The girls never gave up. We were down 7 runs going into the bottom of the 7th inning and scored 8 runs on what was a very wild and crazy inning. They did a great job of getting it done when we needed it. Kayla Patnoe came into the game late and had 2 crucial hits for us. Rebecca Lawrence also pounded out 2 hits to help us. Great finish to an exciting game.”
The Adrian girls traveled to Lincoln to play two games on Saturday. The first game the Lady Blackhawks were down 2-9 in the 4th inning and came back to score 5 in the fifth and 7 in the seventh inning to take the win, 14-9 over Lincoln. “The girls did an excellent job of staying focused, hitting and playing defense late in the game. Both pitchers did a good job” said Coach Hubbard.
In game two, Adrian played Cole Camp and were defeated 12 to 1. Coach Hubbard said, “We are lucky to have three very good pitchers. All three did a great job this weekend. Nichole Cogbill did a super job at shortstop and also went 3 for 3 at the plate against Cole Camp.”
