Lady Blackhawks fall to Sherwood and Cole Camp; Defeat Lincoln
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks softball team traveled to Sherwood April 15. Adrian fell to the Lady Marksmen 9 to 13. Coach Hubbard commented, “The girls played hard and never gave up. We had a bad inning where errors cost us on defense but overall we played well. Sherwood has a very good team both on offense and defense. We scored 9 runs but our defense couldn’t hold off their bat strength. We have improved in several areas and are understanding more what it takes to compete during school ball.”
On Saturday, April 17 the Lady Blackhawks traveled to Lincoln for two games. In the first game Adrian played Lincoln and defeated them 7 to 4 in 7 innings of play. Kaley Keating was the winning pitcher. She struck out 4, gave up 4 walks and 3 hits.
In game two the Lady Blackhawks were defeated by Cole Camp 9 to 10. Megan Lewis was the losing pitcher. She pitched 4 1/2 innings, struck out 5, walked 4 and allowed 2 hits. Kaley Keating pitched 1 1/2 innings, striking out 1, walked 2 and allowed 2 hits.
Coach Hubbard stated, “It was a two game day at Lincoln. We started the day slow but as the day went along we got better. We had good innings and gave up big innings to our opponent. Overall the girls did well. They never gave up when we were down in the last game.”
