Lady Blackhawks fall to Archie; Win first round in Midway tournament

The Adrian Lady Blackhawks hosted the Archie Lady Whirlwinds on Tuesday, February 2. Adrian struggled with their shots as they quickly found themselves down 15 to 4 in the first quarter. To start the second half Adrian came out fired up and battled their way back, outscoring Archie 28 to 21, but still fell short by one point, 45 to 46.
Coach Dingman said, “Our bench stepped up for us. We just could not overcome being down by 11 points after the first quarter.” The loss put the Lady Blackhawks’ overall record at 11 and 5 and they fell to 0 and 2 in the conference.
On Monday night, February 8, the Lady Blackhawks opened the Midway Tournament against the Lady Vikings of Midway. Adrian had little trouble as they took the first round contest by the score of 54 to 25. In the first half the Lady Blackhawks scored 29 points and held Midway to 9. The second half was much the same as Adrian put up 25 more points to Midway’s 16.
Coach Dingman said, “We had a good night shooting. Emily Hughes had a double-double on the night. It was a good way to get the tournament started.”
