Girls win, boys lose to Barstow Knights

Last Tuesday the Adrian Blackhawks played their first home game against the Barstow Scarlet Knights. The girls kicked off the action with a tough, hard fought game. The Blackhawks defense kept Barstow from scoring (with seconds on the clock) and Adrian won 52-50.
This win pushes their record to 7 wins and 1 loss on the year. Coach Nathan Dingman said, “Shots were just not falling, but we found a way to win in the end. Free throws were big and the girls stepped up to the challenge. Another close one came out our way.”
The boys game picked up right where the girls game left off, with each team bringing the same amount of intensity. Adrian chipped away at the lead all through the fourth quarter and almost caught up in the end, but came up just a little short. Barstow won, 58-56.
The loss pushes Adrian’s record to 6 wins and 2 losses on the year. Coach James Wheeler commented, “Probably one of our toughest opponents yet. We struggled with shooting, but were able to find other ways to score. Our defense was solid, the kids played really hard.”
