The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to Rich Hill last Friday looking to improve on their 2-2 record. They would leave the Tiger’s home field successful in that bid while also gaining valuable playing time for the younger players on the team as Adrian was in control of the ball game within minutes of the opening kick off.

Scoring came fast and furious the first quarter of play. Three minutes into the game the score stood at 20-0 in favor of the Blackhawks. The first quarter ended with the Blackhawks scoring 34 points at will. Joe Collins and Kody Cook would score on short runs closing out the half with an overwhelming 55-0 score.

Half of the offensive scores came from junior varsity players getting into the game for some valuable experience. The last coming from the legs of Ethan Weeks as he ran 37 yards to paydirt. Adrian would hold the host Tigers scoreless and left with a feel-good score of 62-0. The real value of the matchup was the experience gained by the underclassmen who played the vast majority of the second half. They played amongst some starters who remained in the game allowed them to succeed in a controlled environment. Adrian had eight different players score touchdowns in the ball game.

Adrian faces a Cass Midway Viking team whose record stands at 4-1 as they travel to Freeman, MO for a 7pm matchup between two long time bitter WEMO conference rivals. Fresh legs and experienced underclassmen should help the Blackhawks in their quest to improve on their conference record, but they will have to continue to play mistake free football to be successful.
