Erickson scores 1000th point

The Adrian Blackhawks varsity basketball team rolled over the Blue Ridge Christian Warriors in the 24th annual Midway Basketball Tournament last Tuesday evening by the score of 68-19.  But the real news in this game was Austin Erickson scoring his 1000th point in the first half of play.

After graduation, Austin plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University.  He has submitted game tapes and hopes to go on a scholarship to Northwest.  “I definitely don’t want high school basketball to end.  It seems like just yesterday we started as freshmen.  There is nothing like high school sports,” Austin said.  Austin extends a special thanks to his teammates, Coach Wheeler, his family and the Adrian cheering section and fans.

Austin’s dedication and commitment to his personal goal is right in line with the team’s goals that were set the first practice of the season.  Their first goal is to win the state championship.  Despite a heartbreaking loss to the Barstow Knights in the final game of the Midway Tournament on Saturday, the Adrian Blackhawks are one step closer to achieving their goal as Austin has achieved his this season.
