Adrian made the trek to Freeman, MO Friday night to take on the Cass Midway Vikings in a yearly anticipated match-up between conference arch rivals. The Blackhawks entered the game with a record of 3-2. Midway stood at 4-1, but both teams would leave with a 4-2 record as Adrian trounced the Vikings on their home turf, 29-0.

Lost in the glee that Adrian has scored 91 points against their first two conference opponents is the fact their defense has come up huge by not giving up a single point. The Blackhawks proved the shutout against Rich Hill was no fluke by repeating the feat against a talented Midway Vikings team.

Erik White opened the scoring for the Blackhawks on a 3-yard run with 7:25 on the first quarter clock. His extra point was good making the score 7-0, Adrian. The Blackhawks went into halftime with a 23-0 lead.

The third quarter was uneventful. Adrian scored its final points of the contest with 2:50 left on the clock as Erik White scampered in from the six yard line. This time his extra point would fail thus producing the final score of 29-0.

“This was a big win for us” said Blackhawks Head Coach George Bruto. “This win helped us in the conference race and it’s always good to beat Midway. This week is another big week for us. Osceola comes to town. They are a very good team. They are 5-1, so we must play an A+ game to win.”

Adrian looks to improve on their unbeaten conference streak and extend their shutout string to three games as they host the Osceola Indians this Friday at the Adrian Sports Complex.
