Blackhawks track season in full swing

The Adrian high school boys track team participated in three meets last week. On Tuesday, April 14 they were at ElDorado Springs where they finished 11th out of 21 teams. Coach Cochran said, “It was pretty tough today. There were 21 schools here and there was a lot of good competition, but that is what we need. We didn’t all perform our best today, but it was a pretty decent effort. The times weren’t that great, but nobody’s were. We’re banged up a little, but so is everyone else. Due to our practicing on the streets, we’re nursing a lot of shin splints. We just have to work through it. We didn’t do bad, but we’ll have better days.”
Thursday, April 16th the Blackhawks traveled to Sherwood. They finished 4th out of 13 teams. “We improved today. As a team we finished 4th overall. As young as we are, that isn’t bad. Times weren’t fantastic, but it is a gravel track. Kendall Schellman really improved his shot put today. He is starting to figure it out. We are getting better. I’m happy with our effort and we continue to improve” said Coach Cochran.
On Friday, April 17th the boys participated in the Windsor Invitational and brought home 2nd place out of 14 teams. Coach Cochran commented, “We had a really good meet today as we did about as good as we could do. The kids performed well. I was really pleased all the way around. Harrison Wainwright really cut his time down in the 400 meters and the 4x400 relay knocked 7 seconds of their personal best The kids are working hard and improving. Great job today!”

The Adrian Lady Blackhawks track team had a busy week, competing in three meets. On Tuesday, April 14 they traveled to El Dorado Springs and placed 7th with 35 points.

Freshman Track
Monday, April 20 the Adrian Blackhawks freshman track team traveled to Cass Midway for the Freshman Co-ed Invitational. Coach Matt Cochran had this to say, “It was a good meet for us. We finished in 2nd place overall. It was good for the freshmen to compete against other freshmen and be successful. All but one event medaled so the kids were excited about that. It was different because everything is a relay, so they added all throws and jumps together for a total. Also, it was coed, so boys and girls competed together. I think the kids really enjoyed it.”
