Blackhawks take first in WEMO Conference Tournament

The Blackhawks kicked off WEMO Tournament action with a 72-24 slaughtering of the Osceola Indians on November 30, 2009. “We had balanced scoring. We were able to force a lot of turnovers and convert those to points,” said Coach Wheeler.
In the second round of tournament play, the Adrian Blackhawks claimed another victory against the Drexel Bobcats. The final score showed the balance on both sides of the ball with a final score of 71-39. The Blackhawks maintained a steady lead in each quarter of the game. “We had a balanced attack on offense. We are still working to get better. We were a little sluggish to start, we got things going in the second half,” commented Coach Wheeler.
In the championship game of the tournament Adrian was up against the #3 seed Miami Eagles. The game proved to be an exciting one as the Blackhawks had to come from behind and tie the game during regulation. Adrian was able to come alive in OT as they outscored Miami 18 to 5 to take the 83 to 70 victory. “Keenan Morrow had one of his best games as a Blackhawk. Erik White really had a nice second half to help us to victory” said Coach Wheeler. "We scored a lot of points. We need to do a better job on defense though. A good tournament win. It’s been awhile since Adrian has won that tournament.”
