Blackhawks take first in WEMO Conference, Lady Blackhawks take second

The WEMO Conference track meet was held last Tuesday, May 4 at the Archie High School track. The Adrian Blackhawks boys team took first place with 129 points. The girls team took second with 117 points.

Coach Cochran said, “Wow, what a great effort from the kids tonight. I’ve told the kids all year that the conference meet would come down to just a few points between us and Appleton City. All year we’ve competed with them very closely, teamwise. It did end up going down to the wire. We ended up winning conference by 4 points. Every possible point we got was needed. There were some outstanding performances today. We had many personal bests, and Erik White came within a few inches of breaking the school record in the long jump. I couldn’t be more proud of the kids. They deserve to be Conference Champions.”
