Blackhawks surprise Bobcats with a shut out
By MIKE BURRIS
The second game of the season kicked off for the Adrian Blackhawks as they traveled to Drexel to take on the Bobcats. Adrian entered the game with a four game losing streak to Drexel. After a rough start to the game the Blackhawks finally put things together and left with a 28-0 victory.
The Blackhawks took possession to start the second half. The coaching staff made some key adjustments that paid off big time as senior running back Austin Corley took the opening play of the half 66 yards to paydirt. Adam Cochran’s kick was good, giving Adrian all the points they would need on the night. Coach Cochran said, “We were a new team in the second half. Coach Davis, Coach Noland, and Coach VanSlyke adjusted the offense at halftime. It obviously worked with our first play going 66 yds for a TD. The kids responded to the challenge and played well in the second half. We have to play 4 quarters if we expect to improve.”
Adrian hosts the Midway Vikings this Friday out at the Adrian Athletic Complex. Midway is ranked 10th in Class 1 football. It will take more than a halftime wakeup call to defeat them.
Right: Brohde Bennett, 2, and Logan Harris, 27, team up to bring down Drexel’s #17 Jacob Antley.
Far right: Quarterback Trenton Tallman hands the ball off to cousin Logan Tallman, 11, as Alex Rushly, 69, and Isaac Romi, 50, block to give him running room.
