The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to El Dorado Springs to take on the host Bulldogs in their opening game of the 2010 football season Friday, August 27th. They entered the game with questions about how their offensive skill positions would perform. They would leave the field on the good side of a 41-6 thumping in a game many expected to be close. With that lopsided victory they put to rest any doubts people may have had about how their offense would perform.

Adrian’s second quarter was much like the first.  Adrian led at the half 35-0. Adrian would play it close the rest of the game in an uneventful second half of play. That is, until El Dorado managed to put together a scoring drive finished by a Trey Barger touchdown run from the one yard line.  Micheal Guinn would make amends for that score on a long touchdown run of his own when he burst outside of the Bulldog defensive line and smoked all defenders on a 67 yard dash to paydirt. Wendleton’s kick would sail wide left setting up the final score of 41-6.

Adrian will head into next week's game having answered the question of what to expect from new starters at skill positions on offense. With a balanced attack that features three running backs that can hurt you, any team focusing on stopping the run will pay the price of a mobile quarterback that is comfortable throwing to any of six different receivers.

“This was a great win for us” said Head Coach George Bruto. “We had a lot of guys step up for us Friday night.”  “We must improve in some areas to win this Friday at Archie. Archie is a very good team this year.  They pass the ball very well”.

Right: Chopper Bagby, 68, picks off an El Dorado pass and went 40 yards for the touchdown last Friday night in the Blackhawks season opener.

Middle: Adrian’s Tylor McDonald makes a hit on El Dorado’s quarterback James Dubois.

Far right: Micheal Guinn, 25, eludes the tackle of El Dorado’s Kyle McCullick.
