Blackhawks open season at WEMO Tournament

The Adrian Blackhawks boys and girls teams opened their 2010-2011 basketball season at the WEMO Conference Tournament last Monday evening at Rich Hill. The Lady Blackhawks won the first round 57 to 25. In a closely fought game, the Adrian boys came out on top 59-51.

In the second round of tournament action the Lady Blackhawks went head to head with the number 3 seed Drexel Lady Bobcats. It was a back and forth contest and it took an overtime for Drexel to walk away with the 45 to 36 victory. In the last game of the evening the boys also played Drexel. The Blackhawks came out strong and never let up as they defeated the Bobcats 69 to 48 to move on to the championship game.

The Lady Blackhawks defeated the Osceola Lady Indians 57 to 45 for 3rd place in the conference tournament on Friday night, December 3. In the championship game on Saturday, December 4, the Adrian Blackhawks took on the number 1 seed Archie Whirlwinds. The Blackhawks fell short 41 to 52 to take second place.
