Blackhawks open 2013 portion of season

Boys win one, lose two

It was a three game week for the Blackhawks as they opened the 2013 portion of the season. On Thursday, January 3 Adrian hosted the Ballard Bulldogs. Friday, Adrian traveled to Midway for their first conference game and then on Saturday they played the Clinton Cardinals. This game was held on the campus of the University of Central Missouri.

The Blackhawks defeated the Ballard Bulldogs 49 to 38. Coach Basore said, “The boys really pressured the ball in the 4th quarter.” Friday night the Blackhawks fell to Midway 35 to 49. “We didn’t rebound well at all and gave them too many second chances” commented Coach Basore. Saturday Adrian was defeated by the Clinton Cardinals 53 to 35. Coach Basore simply stated, “We got out rebounded.”

Girls win two, lose one

The Adrian Lady Blackhawks had a busy week of basketball. They opened their 2013 portion of the season on Thursday, January 3 as they hosted the Ballard Lady Bulldogs. On Friday, January 4 they were on the road in conference play as they traveled to Midway. Saturday, January 5 they traveled to Warrensburg where they played the Clinton Lady Cardinals. The game was played at the auditorium of the University of Central Missouri.

Thursday night the Lady Blackhawks defeated Ballard 52 to 12. Coach Basore commented, “The girls played well.” Friday night the Lady Blackhawks traveled to Midway for conference action and came away with a 50 to 45 victory. “It was a big conference win for the girls” stated Coach Basore. “They played hard and made adjustments well during the game.” In their third game of the week, the Lady Blackhawks were defeated by the Clinton Lady Cardinals on Saturday, January 5. Coach Basore said, “We had a let down during this game after a big win Friday night. Another night I think the outcome would be different.”
