Blackhawks open 2010 baseball season

The Adrian Blackhawks baseball team opened their season on Tuesday, April 30 on the road against the K. C. Lutheran Knights. Behind the pitching of Luke Hough and Ivan Wendleton, the Blackhawks scored a 12 to 6 victory.

On Wednesday the Blackhawks traveled to Lakeland. After 13 innings of play the victory went to Lakeland 6 to 5. Coach Dingman said, “It was a hard fought game for 13 innings. Game played well by every player. We just could not get a hit when we needed it. Had some great pitching and defense but it is still early in the season.”

In their third game in three days, the Blackhawks traveled to Archie Thursday, April 1 where they defeated the Whirlwinds 12 to 11.
Coach Dingman said, “It was our third game in three days. The pitching staff held true. We finally got our bats going late in the game. The boys showed a lot of heart, tieing up the game in the top of the 7th, then putting on 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning to win the game. Good way to start conference play.
