Blackhawks move to 11-2 on the season

Tuesday, April 27 the Blackhawks baseball team defeated Hume 8 to 2 for a 9-2 overall record on the season. As a team Adrian collected 9 hits with only 1 error. Shaylon Moreland was the winning pitcher as he went the full 7 innings. He struck out 11 batters, walking 5. Coach Dingman said, “Another decent hitting game. We got runs when we needed them. Shaylon pitched a great game. He had a no hitter going in 4 innings. First win at home and it is always good to get started that way.”

On Thursday, the Blackhawks hosted the Leeton Bulldogs. Adrian collected 14 hits to take the win 18 to 9. The winning pitcher was Luke Hough, pitching 4 innings. He struck out 7 and walked 10. Also pitching was Ivan Wendleton. He pitched 2 innings, striking out 4 and walking 4.

“It was a windy day at the Adrian City Park” said Coach Dingman. “Luke and Ivan pitched well in 40 mph wind gusts. Our bats came alive really well in this game and we were able to play a little bit of small ball and moved runners around very well. We didn’t give up too many runs on our 6 errors which was a big plus. The boys played well, It was a big night by Nick Highley, Ivan Wendleton and Luke Hough.”
