Blackhawks Homecoming spoiled by Indians 7-6

By MIKE BURRIS
The Adrian Blackhawks lost another heartbreaker this past Friday at the sports complex, 7-6, to the visiting Osceola Indians. All the scoring took place in the first half but a valiant second half field goal attempt that went wide left was the difference in the game.
Adrian scored on their first drive of the game when Austin Williams plunged three yards to paydirt in the first quarter. The extra point into the wind sailed wide right, giving them an early first quarter lead. The Blackhawks would hold that lead until Osceola managed to find the endzone 14 seconds before halftime.
Those would be the final points of the night, but the game was not without an exciting finish. Adrian put together a late drive but could not find the endzone.
Even with their surprising 2-5 record, the Blackhawks are not out of the playoff hunt. This is a whole new season for the Blackhawks. The best of four games can take them into the playoffs, and turn around an otherwise disappointing season for the club.
Right: Rian Lewis, 15, wraps up Osceola’s Hawk Duggins during action last Friday night at Adrian.
Far right: Austin Williams drags down Osceola’s running back Trevor Dean. Joe Collins, 40, and Ethan Weeks, 11, assist on the play.
