The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to Butler Tuesday night, March 1, to open the Class 3 District 13 Tournament by facing the tournament host Butler Bears. Adrian would emerge victorious defeating Butler by a score of 55-40. “The kids really did a great job of taking care of the ball in the second half,” said Head Coach Tyson Basore.

Adrian made a second trip to Butler for round two of district play. Their defeat of Butler matched them up with the top seeded Summit Christian Academy Eagles. The Blackhawks went into the matchup expecting to play a tough game of basketball but ended up in a game of Whack-a-Moles. Junior Eric Moles would lead all scorers with 39 points, and more than half coming from the free throw line. Eric shot 20-20 from the charity stripe, proving the Eagles’ strategy to be an epic failure. The Blackhawks upended the favored Eagles by the score of 68-59.

“I am very proud of our kids for keeping their composure down the stretch,” commented Head Coach Tyson Basore. The win moved the Blackhawks into the finals of district action where they would face the Stockton Tigers. Stockton knocked off the number two seed El Dorado Springs Bulldogs.

The Adrian Blackhawks headed into the District Championship game fired up and ready to play against a tough Stockton team on Saturday, March 5. With few points on the board for half of the game, the Blackhawks struggled to stay on top and fell to defeat, 66-48. They finished the season with an overall record of 17-9.

“I am very proud of the boys and thought they worked hard and got a lot better this season,” said Head Coach Tyson Basore.
