Blackhawks fail to take aim on the Sherwood Marksmen

By MIKE BURRIS
Adrian traveled to Sherwood’s home field to take on the Marksmen last Friday in a closely contested battle that did not end in the Blackhawks favor. Adrian fell to the Sherwood Marksmen 14-12 after Sherwood capitalized off of a two point conversion following their second touchdown of the game.
For the better part of three and a half quarters, defense ruled the field as Adrian had a “bend-but-don’t-break” style of play. Adrian’s defense allowed a lot of yardage gained per drive but managed to put together three solid stands to force punts by the Sherwood offense.
Adrian’s offense never could get on track as Sherwood’s defense repeatedly had two or three players in the backfield on every play. The Blackhawk’s running attack was put under tremendous pressure and the passing game was not given time to set-up the plays.
“We had no offensive attack,” said Head Coach George Bruto. “Our special teams broke down. We had four turnovers. It’s hard to win when you do things like we did on Friday.”
Adrian hosts El Dorado Springs this Friday in another attempt to get back into the win column and even their season record.
Right: The Adrian Blackhawks defense stuffs the ball in the game against the Sherwood Marksmen last Friday.
Far right: Skyler Kariker and Sawyer Highley stop the run against the Marksmen.
