Blackhawks end losing streak; Defeat Appleton City 49-12

By MIKE BURRIS
The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to Appleton City to take on the Bulldogs last Friday hoping to put an end to their three game losing streak. Things did not look too good as Appleton City took the opening kick and returned it the distance, giving the host Bulldogs the six point lead.
The game looked to be another in a series of disappointments for the Blackhawks and it appeared yet another team who traditionally gets beaten by Adrian would get their chance to exact revenge for years of futility. That would not be the case, however, as the Blackhawks marched down the field after the ensuing kick-off and punctuated the drive with a 22 yard race to paydirt by Joe Collins. Brendin White was good on the extra point. Adrian was ahead 7-6 and would never look back. Adrian won the game 49-12, dominating not only the final score, but all the stats that went with it.
Adrian travels to Rich Hill next week looking to build upon all that was good coming out of this game. They will be facing a Tiger squad that is 1-3 on the year and coming off a 21-14 loss to the Lockwood Tigers. This will be the Blackhawks chance to start a new streak - this time a good one.
Right: Joe Collins, 40, follows the block of quarterback Ethan Weeks, to gain extra yardage against Appleton City.
Far right: Ethan Weeks, 11, brings down Appleton City’s freshman running back Logan Siegismund.
