Adrian varsity basketball continued after a long Christmas break, as the Blackhawks traveled down to El Dorado Springs in search of some more Blackhawk victories. The girls kicked off the action.

The game started close with both teams hitting their shots. The Adrian girls came up big in the second quarter to gain a halftime lead of 28-26. The girls ran into trouble in the fourth quarter, but with two seconds left on the clock, Lee Anna Reid put up a shot as the ball bounced through and the clock ticked down to zero, with the Lady Blackhawks winning 56-55. This moves Adrian’s record to 5-1 on the year.
Coach Dingman said, “The game came down to the wire. My girls showed that they wanted it in the end. Free throw shooting determined the game.”

Blackhawks Action
Adrian’s boys came out a little sluggish against the El Dorado Bulldogs. The Blackhawks were shooting cold and couldn’t make a shot and by halftime the Bulldogs were leading 33-28.
After trailing for the first three quarters, Adrian made some big plays and the momentum switched sides completely. The Blackhawks went on to win the game by a score of 69-66.
Coach Wheeler commented on the game, “Our guys were very resilient. They never quit and kept fighting. I’m proud that they would not quit and were able to sustain some runs by our opponent. This was a good win for us. We continue to have balanced scoring. We hope to correct some weaknesses on defense in the coming days to help prepare for the grind the rest of the year.”
