Blackhawks baseball wins 3 for a 7-2 record

The Adrian Blackhawks baseball team, with a record of 5 and 1, traveled to Barstow and defeated the Knights 6 to 3. Coach Dingman said, “This was a big win for us. Barstow is a district opponent and we hit the ball well. We had to overcome some errors early on in the game but turned the game around in our favor in the middle innings. Both of our pitchers pitched well.”

On Saturday, April 17 the Blackhawks traveled to Lincoln where they played two games. In the first game Adrian took on the Lincoln Cardinals. The Blackhawks collected 15 hits and defeated Lincoln 19 to 9. Coach Dingman said, “We got off to a good start in this game but errors kept Lincoln in the game. Our bats came alive in the 6th inning. It was the first multi home run game as a team in Adrian High School history.”

In the second game Adrian took on Cole Camp and were defeated 2 to 0. “When you only get two base runners on in a game, it is hard to win” stated Coach Dingman. “Cole Camp was a good game. This was a good high school baseball game, low on errors and great pitching from both teams.”

On Monday, April 19 the Adrian Blackhawks traveled to Lone Jack and defeated the Mules 13 to 9. The winning pitcher was Luke Hough. He pitched 4 innings, striking out 5. Also pitching was Ivan Wendleton and Shaylon Moreland. They each pitched one inning.

Coach Dingman said, “We had a big 2nd inning with 3 of the 6 runs coming with two outs. Big home run by Ivan Wendleton. Good to see us get back on the winning path. Best hitting team we have faced all year. Our pitcher did a good job of keeping the ball in the park and our fields did a good job of not giving up too many extra bases. Two errors as a team is a good achievement.”
