Blackhawks baseball action

Last week the Adrian Blackhawks played two games in two days. On Wednesday they hosted the Butler Bears. The final scored was Adrian 1 and Butler 0. Coach Dingman said, “Good game by both teams. We had 8 runners left on base. We held on to a 1 run lead by having good defense and great pitching in the last few innings. 3 errors, 1 hit and 1 walk was a good game.”
On Thursday, the Blackhawks hosted the Barstow Knights and pulled out a 7 to 6 victory. The score was tied going into the 8th inning and Ivan Wendleton recorded the game winning RBI. Coach Dingman commented on the game, “After being down 6-0 going into the bottom of the 4th, we started the slow climb back, getting 1 run in both the 4th and 5th inning, then opening the door for a win with 4 runs in the 6th. Kyle Knuth started the game and threw well. Austin came in to finish it off. Ivan came up with the game winning hit but all the boys played well.”
On Friday, April 17 Adrian hosted Lakeland for a make up game. Adrian collected 6 hits to score a 3 to 1 victory over the Vikings. Shaylon Moreland was the winning pitcher.
The Adrian Blackhawks baseball team traveled to Lincoln for a tournament on Saturday, April 18. In the first game Adrian played Lincoln and won 5 to 4. Ivan Wendleton was the winning pitcher.
In second game action, the Blackhawks played Cole Camp and won 7 to 3. This puts Adrian’s record at 6-0. Coach Dingman said, “This is the best start in school history.”
On Monday, April 20 the Blackhawks were scheduled to host the Lone Jack Mules. Due to the wet field conditions, Adrian traveled to Lone Jack and defeated their host 13 to 3. Shaylon Moreland was the winning pitcher.
