Blackhawk wrestling team finishes 4th in Pleasant Hill Tournament

The Blackhawk wrestling team is off to a good start with dual wins over Sherwood and Holden on December 1st. Adrian showed their dominance over Sherwood with a 60-15 win. Coach Campbell has only accumulated 4 dual losses in his tenure as the Blackhawk’s Head Coach. Two of these have been to Holden. “I don’t stress dual wins too much, I want the boys to focus on the end of the year when it counts, but it was a good win and definitely one that we wanted,” Campbell said. “It was good to get the monkey off of our backs from our previous losses”. The Blackhawks were able to distance themselves with some great conditioning and aggressive topwork earning a 48-27 victory.
Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3rd the Blackhawks participated in the Steve Leslie Invitational at Pleasant Hill High School. The Blackhawks finished in fourth with 9 of their 14 wrestlers placing in the top 5. Place winners were: Jeremy Dryden (106) 5th, Dakota Jones (113) Champion, Austin Ward (120) Champion, Michael Lopez (126) 5th, Nathan Chamberlain (145) 5th, Austin Williams (152) 2nd, Joe Collins (160) 2nd, Vince Romi (182) 4th, Christian Graham (285) 2nd. Despite having some starters out of the line up Coach Campbell seemed pleased with his teams performance. “We’re very young, our whole team works so hard. It was very easy to see this weekend that our conditioning is second to none. The boys really take pride in that. It’s good to see that all of their hard work is paying off.”
