Blackhawk track teams participate at Midway

The Adrian high school boys and girls track teams participated in the Midway Invitational Tuesday, April 6th. There were 15 teams participating. The Adrian boys took 1st with 91.5 points.
Coach Cochran commented on the meet, “The kids did alright today. They worked hard, but our times have to come down. It’s still early in the season so there is time for improvement. It was overcast and windy today. The meet was cut short due to lightning. We didn’t run the 3200 meter or the 4x400 relay. We had a few good times today. Tom Gregg ran a personal best in the mile, the 4x100 team ran their best of the year and Erik White setting the meet record in the long jump was good. He broke Brian Robards’ record of 20’ 3 1/4” set in 2006. We did win the meet which surprised me a little. We don’t get a lot of 1st place finishes, but we get several 2nd-6th place finishes. Those tend to add up throughout the course of a track meet. We just need to continue to improve.”
On Friday, April 9th the Blackhawks traveled back to Midway for a combo track meet. The boys won the meet with 118 points.
Right: Erik White clears the bar in the high jump during the Cass Midway meet last Friday. White placed 2nd with a jump of 5’10”.
