Blackhawk track teams compete at Midway

The Adrian Blackhawks track teams participated in the Midway Invitational on Tuesday, April 5. There were 12 teams and the boys placed 3rd with 85.5 points and the girls placed 7th.
Coach Basore commented, “The girls did a good job. We had a lot of personal bests. Skyler Wooldridge broke her own record in the pole vault with a vault of 10’. That is exciting for her and also it occurred early in the season and so we look forward to seeing what she is capable of later.”
Coach Cochran said, “The wind was really bad, so times weren’t that great. I thought Harrison ran a good 400, Alix a good 800 and Micheal a good 200. The 1600m relay keeps improving their time too. Our field events need to get better so we can get more team points. All in all it wasn’t a bad meet. We did finish 3rd as a team, which isn’t bad. We just need to improve.”
The Blackhawks traveled back to Midway on Friday, April 8th. The boys placed 2nd out of 13 teams that participated. The girls placed 8th.
Coach Basore said, “We had a lot of personal bests during the combo meet. We are getting faster and so this upcoming week we are going to set new personal goals so that we can keep getting better.”
Coach Cochran stated, “It was a very good meet for the kids today. Weather conditions were perfect - for awhile. We had 13 personal bests. We were only 17 points from 1st and we were missing two people. Also, we didn’t do the 3200 and 1600m relays because of the weather. Payton Wilson is really improving in the hurdles and Drew Cochran throwing 10 ft. farther than his best in the discus. We just need to continue to work hard.”
