AHS baseball ends with loss in Districts

Winding down the 2009 baseball season, the Adrian Blackhawks baseball team traveled to Drexel on Thursday, May 14. They collected 14 hits and won the contest 9 to 1.
Shaylon Moreland was the winning pitcher. He pitched 6 innings, striking out 9, walking 6 and allowing 1 hit. Kyle Knuth also pitched 1 inning, striking out 2 and walking 1.
“Austin pitched a good game, we just did not have the bats or the defense to back him up,” said Coach Dingman.
The Adrian Blackhawks were seeded 3rd in District play and they played the first round against Lee’s Summit Community Christian. Collecting only 3 hits and committing 5 errors, the Blackhawks fell 10 to 0. They ended their season with a record of 10 and 4.
Kyle Knuth was the losing pitcher. He went 4 1/3 innings, striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 8 hits. Ivan Wendleton came in and pitched 2/3 inning, striking out 2.
Coach Dingman said, “It was hard to see the season end. We just could not overcome our errors and didn’t get the bat on the ball.”
