“It was a great night for our seniors and a historical night for our program. We have accomplished many of our goals throughout the year, but our main goal is to perform at our highest level at the district and state tournaments,” Head Wrestling Coach Ryan Campbell said.
On January 30, the Adrian Varsity Wrestlers competed in the Richmond Tournament. “This was a tough tournament,” Head Coach Ryan Campbell said. “Some individuals had fairly good days, but as a team we didn’t wrestle to our potential. Our kids need to realize that they can compete with some of the better kids in the state. I think that we were a little intimidated Saturday.” Coach Campbell added, “They know what they need to do before districts. Most of them have never worked this hard for anything before, and for some of them to accomplish their goals they are going to have to work even harder. I have very high expectations and I am very fortunate to have such a good group of guys. There are few teams that work as hard as we do, and districts will be the deciding factor.”
Districts are February 12 and 13 at Blair Oaks High School located just outside of Jefferson City. The top four placers will then compete at the University of Missouri on February 18, 19 and 20 in the state tournament.
