Adrian Volleyball Action

The Adrian Lady Blackhawks were on the road Tuesday, September 20 as they traveled to Midway. The Lady Vikings defeated Adrian in two, 25-18 and 25-17.
“We really struggled to find our groove tonight” said Coach Robards. “We gave up a lot of points early and could never gain control of the game.”

On Thursday Adrian traveled to Lamar. In a three game match the Lady Blackhawks were defeated, 17-25, 20-25 and 28-26. Coach Robards commented, “The girls played a great game tonight. Unfortunately a few calls didn’t go our way which allowed Lamar to gain several points on us. Our defense and offense, at the net, was the best I have seen it all season.”

Saturday, September 24 Adrian participated in the Midway Tournament. The Lady Blackhawks came out great in pool play which allowed them to move on to bracket play. They made it to the semifinals where they were defeated by Midway.
Adrian defeated Lakeland, 25-11, 25-10; Adrian tied KC Lutheran, 25-22, 11-25; Adrian defeated Butler, 25-16, 25-7; Adrian defeated Jasper, 25-18, 25-17; Midway defeated Adrian, 25-8, 25-16.

Coach Robards commented on the tournament, “We played great in our pool which allowed us to have a good seed in bracket play. We made it to the semifinals where we lost to a tough Midway team. Unfortunately we played one of our worst matches against Midway ending our chances at winning the tournament. I was very proud to have Darian Pittman be named to the All Tournament team. It was well deserved and I’m very happy for her.”
