The Adrian Blackhawks track teams participated in the Archie Invitational on Tuesday, March 30. The boys team placed 2nd with 91 points, behind Hogan Prep with 112.

Coach Matt Cochran commented, “The kids performed very well today. I was happy with our effort. I really didn’t know how we would stack up against other teams, especially conference teams. We finished 2nd overall and first of the conference schools. That’s great. Our team depth this year really helps and the kids are working hard thus far. We had a lot of good individual efforts today. Erik White’s long jump, the 4x200 team, Bobby McCarl’s 800m run, just to name a few. We just need to continue to get better every day.”

The Adrian Blackhawks track teams hosted a meet on Thursday, April 1. It was the first meet to be held on the new track. Teams participating were Adrian, Archie, Appleton City and Drexel. The boys team placed first with 68 points.

Coach Cochran said, “First, I want to thank all of the people who helped run the meet. I also want to thank all of the people responsible for getting the all weather track at the complex. It is so nice to have a track for the kids to practice on every day. It is great they get to experience a track meet at home. The meet went very smoothly, and there was good competition for all the kids. I thought we ran fairly well. I did find a couple of kids that will help us in the near future. Brendin White running the 400 and going over 18 ft. in the long jump was a good surprise. Cody Hannah throwing the shot over 44 ft. was great. Also, Christian Schlotman setting a personal best at 10 ft. in the pole vault was a surprise. We just need to continue to improve.”
