The Adrian Blackhawks boy’s basketball team kept their record breaking season alive Thursday, March 4th with a 60-43 victory over the Liberal Bulldogs. The victory gave the Blackhawks their 26th victory of the year and propelled them into the Class 2 District 11 title game.

An ensuing victory by the Archie Whirlwinds over the Weaubleau Tigers secured a rematch of last year’s title game that Adrian won in convincing fashion.

The Adrian Blackhawks repeated as boys district champs by defeating the Archie Whirlwinds 58-44 Saturday in the Class 2 District 11 title game played in Adrian. Adrian’s home crowd was matched by a raucous Archie crowd who made the five mile jaunt, filling the gymnasium to capacity. The entire game was closer than the final score indicated as Adrian would march out to a big lead only to see the Whirlwinds gnaw away at it and make it a tight game again. But, in the end, the Blackhawks were simply too much for Archie to overcome.

“This was a well played game” said head coach James Wheeler. “I’m proud of our boys for repeating as district champs”.

Adrian advances to the Missouri Class 2A basketball championship bracket where they faced the University Charter Academy from Kansas City on Wednesday, March 10 at Harrisonville.
