Adrian Little League football teams take on Drexel Bobcats
By ERIC MOLES
Some of the Adrian Blackhawks little leaguers played the Drexel Bobcats Saturday, September 19. The other teams played at Rich Hill. There has been an increasing number of kids going out for little league football the past few years that the league decided to split each division (flag, 3rd and 4th grades and 5th and 6th grades). Doing this allows each child to get more playing time and experience, and to play better in junior high and high school.
The flag game was first and Adrian won the coin toss. They elected to receive, and on the first play of the game, quarterback Bryant Chastain threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Brodie Ford. The final score was 23-7, in Adrian’s favor.
The 3rd and 4th grade game started off bad for the Blackhawks and only got worse. Adrian’s Wyatt Reynolds got around the edge and took off for a 75-yard touchdown. That was Adrian’s only score of the game. Drexel was victorious, 46-6.
The 5th and 6th grade game went the same way as the 3rd and 4th game. The Adrian defense could not stop runs up the middle at all during the game. Final score was 44-0, with Drexel on top.
