Adrian Little League falls to Archie

By ERIC MOLES

Saturday, October 17 Adrian’s black teams, which are Jeff Ford, Jeremiah Reynolds and Matt Shannon’s teams, hosted Archie. Jeff Ford’s flag team was looking to head into the playoffs undefeated if they could get past the Whirlwinds. Things didn’t start off well for Adrian as Archie scored first. Neither team could get anything going on offense and Adrian was leading 7-6 at halftime. With under one minute remaining in the game Archie had the ball. With 14 seconds on the clock, Archie’s running back got around the edge and bolted for the endzone for a 78 yard touchdown. The clock read 0:00 as Adrian was defeated 18-13.

The 3rd and 4th grade looked to get the Whirlwinds back. Archie left the doubt in people’s minds who was better that day, leading 24-0 at halftime. Adrian couldn’t get anything going on offense and was shoved around on defense. Archie scored once in the 3rd quarter and once more in the 4th quarter to make the final score 40-0.

Adrian got one more chance to knock off Archie but Archie had different thoughts. The Whirlwinds scored twice in the 1st quarter and once in the 2nd quarter to make the score 20-0 at halftime. Adrian fans supported the boys the whole game in hope for their first win of the season. Archie scored once in each quarter and the final score was in Archie’s favor, 34-0.
