Adrian JV suffers first loss in two years

By ERIC MOLES

The Adrian Blackhawks junior varsity football team hosted the Appleton City Bulldogs Tuesday, September 8. As soon as the players took the field it started raining.

The teams went back and forth during the first half but the score remained 6-0 with Adrian on top.

With under two minutes remaining in the game, Adrian was driving downfield looking for a touchdown. Quarterback Ethan Weeks completed a pass to wide receiver Doll and he was tackled on Appleton City’s 10 yard line. The Blackhawks were looking to punch it in and tie the game, but fumbled for the eighth time. Appleton City recovered in in their own endzone with two seconds remaining. The Bulldogs took a knee and landed the victory.
This was the first loss for the JV team on the new field and their first loss since the second game in 2007. The final score was 12-6.

JV CUTS DOWN ON TURNOVERS AND GETS A VICTORY

The Adrian Blackhawks hosted the Marantha Academy Eagles Monday, September 14th. The Blackhawks are coming off disappointing losses in both varsity and junior varsity. Adrian started out slow, not scoring until midway through the second quarter. The score was 8-0 heading into halftime.

Adrian came out in the second half playing much better and Ethan Weeks threw a three yard touchdown pas to Eric Moles to start it off. The two point try failed. Adrian cut down on turnovers this game and that helped them get the victory. They only turned it over once and forced Marantha Academy to turn it over four times.

On Monday, September 21 the JV travels to El Dorado to play the Bulldogs JV.
