Blackhawks score 41-6 season opener victory
By MIKE BURRIS
The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to El Dorado Springs to take on the host Bulldogs in their opening game of the 2010 football season Friday, August 27th. They entered the game with questions about how their offensive skill positions would perform. They would leave the field on the good side of a 41-6 thumping in a game many expected to be close. With that lopsided victory they put to rest any doubts people may have had about how their offense would perform.
Lady Blackhawks post 9-5 win over Leeton Lady Bulldogs
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks softball team hosted Leeton Tuesday, August 24. Kaley Keating was the winning pitcher as they defeated their opponent 9 to 5. Coach Hubbard said, “The girls did a much better job of playing defense. They hit the ball well too. We had 4 extra base hits which meant we also hit the ball hard. It was a good outing for the whole team. Our JV also won 6-4, pounding out 6 hits in 7 innings. Ashley Riley had 2 hits to lead the Lady Blackhawks in the JV contest.”

Adrian opens softball season at Knob Noster
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks opened their 2010 softball season at Knob Noster on Monday, August 23. Adrian scored 16 runs but lost the game 16 to 22.
Coach Hubbard said, “Any time you score 16 points you ought to win. But any time you have 23 walks and 11 passed balls on the catcher, along with 6 defensive errors, it is easy to understand why you didn’t. Both teams played kind of ugly at times but we did hit the ball well. We out hit them 12 to 7. That was a bright spot for us. We will get better. The girls work hard and it will pay off for them.”
