New pastor, family getting acquainted with Adrian

By SHARON KIESEL
“The best part of being a pastor is just to share God’s word and the privilege of studying the word,” said Pastor Tom Rosekopf. “And, in being able to communicate the word so people can carry it out to the glory of God. To be able to help people with the scripture, to uplift and help them is very fulfilling.”
Tom, his wife Dana and youngest son, Seth, came to Adrian, the first of July. Tom is the new pastor at Calvary Baptist Church. The church, located at 100 South Mulberry, in Adrian is part of the General Association of Baptist Churches and was organized in 1962. The Rosekopfs’ are settling into the Adrian community and are enjoying getting acquainted with everyone.
He said his goals this first year include developing the youth group, The Conquerors and hopefully encouraging more kids to come and be a part of the group and have fun with the planned monthly activities. His other goal, he said, is to simply learn the ropes and meet people, to have a more personal relationship with the people in the church and in the community.
He really likes being in Adrian and at Calvary Baptist Church where everyone works well together. He said he had found in previous churches where he has worked, a real lack of unity. But, nothing like that here, he added, where everyone has been friendly, helpful and welcoming. “We’re here,” he said. “We’re here for you. If there is anyway we can help you connect with God…that’s why we are here.”
