Bates County Horsemanship Happenings

The Bates County Horsemanship Group has had a busy start to our year!
After a fun and educational Nutrition Clinic on February 7th, we had 5 youth travel to Buckner Mo. on February 21st for the Northwest Regional Horse Judging Contest. They did a great job!
On March 7th we held our annual 4-H Vet Clinic at Rolling Meadows Animal Hospital. Dr. Randy Huenefeld gave vaccinations and did Coggins testing on twenty-four 4-H / FFA project horses. Dr. Randy, then began a demonstration on equine chiropractic adjustment along with an equine acupuncture session on a very willing, big black gelding named Dusty. Following the chiropractic and acupuncture session, Dr. Randy then performed a “power float” on Dusty’s teeth. Dr. Randy is one of only a very few veterinarians certified to perform equine chiropractics and acupuncture in our area, so it was exciting to watch and be able to ask him questions about the demonstrations.
