Sweet 16 for Adrian Project Prom
By KELLIE CASE
Where has the time gone? 2011 marks the 16th anniversary for Project Prom in the Adrian Community. Thanks to seed money from a Community 2000 Grant and a group of hardy volunteers it was made possible to plant this most worthy cause in our town. Many thanks to those who have paved the way!
Just for clarification, Project Prom is the drug and alcohol free party that follows the formal, catered dinner and dance, that is the Prom put on by the Junior Class under the guidance of Mrs. Julie Carr. We encourage the involvement of families with younger kids so they can learn the proverbial “ropes”, preserving the quality and integrity of the party. The safety and well being of all children depends on the constant and loving diligence of their communities.
A kick off meeting is being held this Saturday, October 9th at 10:00am at the The Adrian Community Library (west of the railroad tracks in the old Napa building). Items of discussion will be a potential change of venue, theme ideas, additional fundraising opportunities, etc. Future meeting dates will be posted in the Journal Bits of the Adrian Journal and on the school’s website.
Adrian is a small town with a reputation for upholding its traditions. Be ready people, because apparently, time really does fly when you’re having fun! Happy Sweet 16 to Project Prom!
