R-III students particpate in District Music Festival
Hard work and long preparation culminated in great performances at the District 15 Music Festival by the Adrian High School Band and Choir. “I am so pleased with our performances and glad to have quality feedback on how we can attain the musical excellence we are working toward here at Adrian,” stated Mrs. Oates, HS Music Director.
On Thursday, March 18th, 29 band members performed in the Pleasant Hill High School Auditorium. They played an upbeat song entitled “Freefall” and then a beautiful ballad, “Homeward Bound”. The band received very good comments from all three judges and some valuable instruction on how to improve. The judges remarked verbally on how attentive and hard-working the band acted and that it reflected highly on the Adrian School District.
The choir was scheduled to perform on Saturday, March 20th, but weather postponed the event until the following Thursday evening. Even with many students attending competitions in other activities or experiencing sickness, the choir rallied and was able to place 25 students on the Pleasant Hill High School stage. They did an energetic Spanish song, “Oye la Música”, and a lyrical piece,
“River Sing Your Song”. The choir was accompanied by Rebecca Shelby, a talented and supportive parent.
Various students prepared solos for evaluation at the district level and performed on Saturday, March 27th. The community will be able to hear this music and more from the choir and band at the Adrian Spring Concert on May 6th in the Adrian High School East Gym. This concert is also happening in conjunction with the Art Show, where you can view excellent student artwork from this year in the Commons area.
