R-III Preschool to undergo changes
In the next school year (2011 - 2012), the Adrian R-III Preschool program will undergo changes as a result of budget cuts. Federal funding from the Economic Recovery Act currently helps pay for preschoolers tuition and program costs. Effective the end of this school year, that funding will no longer be available. Tuition will be mostly funded by parents and generous civic and school organizations. It is important that we know as soon as possible if there is enough potential tuition to fund the program with the loss of federal revenue.
The R-III Preschool Program is a strong component of the school, and establishes a structured, kindergarten ready curriculum that is approved and overseen by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Preschool and kindergarten teachers work cooperatively everyday to best prepare the youngsters for kindergarten. Three and four year olds are eligible to enroll, with four year olds being the priority so that they are kindergarten ready. Out-of-district students are accepted into the program, as well as five year olds who do not start kindergarten.
