Optimists recognize January Students of the Month

The Adrian R-3, Ballard R-2 and Miami R-1 School Districts have been working in conjunction with the Adrian Optimist Club to honor a Student of the Month from each school. The students are selected by staff members on the following criteria: character, attendance, attitude toward others and school, behavior, leadership, and improvement in, or good grades. Students of the Month each receive a certificate of recognition and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks.”

Right: MacKenzie Oswald, Ballard - MacKenzie, a junior, is the daughter of Jerry and Lori Oswald. MacKenzie is a stand out student who can always be counted on. Not only is she an Honor Roll student, she is a leader in the junior class as she takes a leading role in preparing for prom as well as preparing the concession stand for home games. Middle: Mackenzie Deal, Adrian - Mackenzie is the daughter of Ralph and Rebecca Deal. Mackenzie is involved in FCCLA, Spanish Club and Quill and Scroll. She has been in FCCLA for three years and is the president of the chapter. This is her first year in Quill and Scroll and she has been in Spanish Club for two years.

Far right: Brandy White, Miami - Brandy submitted her information to the Adrian Journal: I am the daughter of Kevin and Shirley Thompson. I have participated in activities such as volleyball, cheerleading and FCCLA for all 4 years of my high school career. I will double major in elementary education and family/consumer sciences.
