FCCLA plans Red Ribbon Week Activities

Red Ribbon Week is here! Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. The theme for this year is “I’m Only Me When I’m Drug Free.” Adrian FCCLA members Maddie Reynolds and Makyna Six have been planning and coordinating the Red Ribbon Week activities for the kindergarten through fifth grades. R-III students will celebrate Red Ribbon Week October 26 through October 30.
The activities for the week include a bookmark contest. All students in kindergarten through fifth grades are eligible to enter. Their teachers have been given blank bookmarks and the criteria for the contest. Bookmarks will be judged on the set criteria with first, second and third place prizes to the following: Kindergarten and 1st grade; 2nd and 3rd grades; 4th and 5th grades.
The students may also show their spirit by dressing up each day according to the theme. The following are the designated dress-up days:
Monday: Put Drugs to Rest – wear pajamas
Tuesday: Hugs Not Drugs – bring stuffed animal to school
Wednesday: Knock the Socks Off Drugs – wear crazy socks
Thursday: Hats off to Saying No to Drugs – wear a hat
Friday: Turn Your Back on Drugs – wear your clothes backwards.
The Adrian PTO has donated pencils to pass out to all students in grades K-12.
