On Wednesday, February 11, 2009, Debbie Powell, a Bates County Juvenile Officer, spoke with Mrs. Carr’s Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes at the Adrian R-III School. Mrs. Powell spoke to the classes on behalf of the Bates County Children Center that is being built in Butler, MO.
There have been several fundraisers in Bates County for the center and the construction is in process. The seventh grade FACS classes have been studying citizenship, leadership, goal setting and management process. They are organizing a “Carry-out Casserole” fundraiser. All of the FACS classes and FCCLA members will be helping with a fundraiser for the children’s center; the Foods I class tested different casserole recipes and prepared a cost analysis to determine what casserole would be best suited for the project.
Call the school at 816-297-4460 to place an order. Students in the FACS classes and FCCLA members will be asking family and friends to purchase these as well, so if you know someone you may place an order with them.
After hearing Mrs. Powell speak, all of the FACS students/FCCLA members felt this would be a very worthwhile project. If you have any questions you may contact Mrs. Carr, the FACS teacher at the Adrian High School.
