A day of job shadowing

By KIRESTON LUPTAK
I became a little uneasy at the thought of job shadowing. I was nervous about spending the whole day with someone I hardly knew, as anyone would probably be. A jumble of thoughts went through my head as I got ready on Thursday morning; will they like me, am I dressed right, will I mess up? At the end of the day all of my questions were answered. As a sophomore you are required to take a semester of Career Explorations. In this class you do exactly as the class title suggests, explore your future career. The Adrian Journal seemed like the perfect place to better my career choice.
Michele Burris and I went all around in search of businesses looking to buy ad space. Little did I know advertisement is unbelievably important to the newspaper business! After a long day of selling ad spaces, we went back to the journal and Michele taught me the basics of how to maintain The Adrian Journal website. I went to work right away. Michele was an exceptional teacher. I only got a little taste of what it’s like to work in the newspaper business, but I absolutely loved it.
At the end of the day, I still wanted to be a Graphic Designer, but I also developed a new passion for journalism. I am in a journalism class where I take part in writing the school newspaper, The Drumbeats.
