Bookmark contest held during Red Ribbon Week

By Makyna Six and Maddie Reynolds
During Red Ribbon Week (Oct 26-30) Family, Career and Community Leaders of America members Maddie Reynolds and Makyna Six organized and sponsored a bookmark contest for the Adrian elementary students in grades kindergarten through fifth. The bookmarks were judged by grade groups. Once judged and prizes awarded the bookmarks were given back to the teachers for the students to use in class during the school year as a reminder to be drug free.
The winners for the grade groups are as follows: Kindergarten and first grade: first place, Braylen Ford; second place, Lilly Rusow; third place, Kendall Wimsatt. Second and third grade winners were: first place, Jordan Mackey; second place, Katelyn Garland; third place, Jenna Shipley. Fourth and fifth grade winners were: first place, Brenna Adkins; second place, Bailey Reed; third place, Hunter Wilson. Each first place winner received a certificate for a free pizza slice at Yoss Deli. The second place winners received a certificate from Blackhawk Corner for a shake and the third place winners received a certificate for an ice cream cone from Blackhawk Corner. The FCCLA appreciates Yoss Thriftway and Blackhawk Corner for their support in this activity.
