Adrian CTA introduces school board candidates
By SHARON KIESEL
The Adrian R-III School CTA recently presented a list of questions to this year’s slate of School Board Candidates. The questions asked to the candidates provide a way to allow voters to make informed choices about the candidates they think will best represent them on the R-III School Board. The questions include such things as age, occupation and civic activities as well as reasons for running for the school board, important issues facing the school board in the next year, course of action to be taken regarding specific complaints or concerns, five year plans for the school board, school financial management and similar questions. The information provided by each candidate should help Adrian School District voters make informed decisions when voting in next Tuesday’s elections.
Gary Tolle - The reason Gary is running for the school board is because it is his opportunity to serve the community, to represent the taxpayers, support the administration and staff and most importantly, to be a small part of providing a strong educational foundation for the children of our community.
Tim Lovejoy - He is running for the Adrian school Board because six years ago, he and his wife decided their previous school district was growing too fast so they made the decision to move to a smaller district. Friends told them how great the Adrian school was so, they made the decision to move here and he said, it was the right decision. He has served on the Adrian school board and would like to serve again, to help the Adrian school to continue its success in educating our children and to give back to the community who has welcomed him and his family.
Susan McMillan - She is running for the school board because she wants to be involved in the future of education in our community. She said right now some critical decisions are occurring surrounding education and funding of our schools. She would like to use the business experience she has gathered from years of working at a large corporation to assist the school district in getting through this difficult period.
Keith Kunkelman - He is running for the school board because he wants to ensure that every student receives a quality education that prepares them for an ever evolving future.
Grant Bunch - He is running for the Adrian School Board because of his passion to ensure that students receive the best education possible which he said would not only provide a solid education but would shape students for their endeavors beyond the Adrian R-III School.
Brett Dawn - He is running for the school board because he wants to be a part of the Adrian school district to ensure kids get what they deserve.
Brittany Dawn - She is running for the school board because she has a child enrolled in Adrian, and will have another child soon enrolled in kindergarten while a third is in preschool. She said she cares about the quality of their education and the other kids around them. She said it’s important that children have a good, healthy learning environment because they are our future.
Sharon Knuth - She is running for the Adrian School Board because she believes she has a lot to bring to the table. She knows the workings of a school. I knows GLE’s, CLE’s, funding, budgets, curriculum guidelines, Lunch programs, Federal funding and grant writing. She said she wanted to offer her knowledge with all she knows. She wants to make sure the Adrian school district remains the elite school it is and wants the great teachers to stay and continue to inspire students.
